Do you like to spend your spare time baking when you can? I spent hours baking as a child and a teenager but as life got busier and I got older I lost the habit. And then life changes, sometimes in ways you’re not expecting, and different things become more important.

Priorities shifted and I found myself baking again. It served various purposes in my life (and not just as a source of cake) and I started blogging when I realised I needed to stop texting photos of my creations to my friends and find another outlet. So I baked and blogged for fun and creativity, and at times it became a form of therapy.

Since then I have been sharing my recipes, thoughts and experiences in my blog posts and I went from being a hobby baker to professional cake maker. I spent a year making the cakes and desserts in a local pub kitchen and then made cakes, cupcakes and desserts to order from home, as well as teaching others how to bake.

These days I am working as a freelance copywriter and have put the cake making on the back burner again (pun intended). Baking is now much less in my daily life but as life continues to shift and evolve I know it’s something I can come back to whenever I choose.

I’ve decided to take this blog in a slightly different direction from where it was going, to my reflect my own interests in baking with health and wellbeing in mind. Food and nutrition, and the science behind it, has always fascinated me.

While you’ll find plenty of traditional recipes on my blog I hope to concentrate more on healthier alternatives going forward.

It doesn’t matter how long you have been baking, there is always more to learn. I’m constantly learning and this blog is my opportunity to pass on some of the things I have learned along the way. I would love to hear from you and what motivates you with your baking..
